Great Lakes Castings is a producer of high quality gray iron castings for over half a century. Our Company has built a reputation as one of the nation’s premier high production domestic foundries serving customers throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada in various industry applications.

We have an immediate opening for an experienced EHS Manager, with manufacturing experience, who is passionate about enhancing our safety culture at our two facilities. This position will implement programs associated with the operation and maintenance of the foundry including the permitting process, auditing and inspections; ensuring timely preparation and reporting of documents that demonstrate compliance of our facilities to governmental agencies such as OSHA/MIOSHA, EPA and other relevant agencies. Safety initiatives are also a primary focus for this position; providing guidance on equipment specifications to prevent unsafe work environments, maintaining facility emergency action plans and conducting periodic drills; coordinating the employee safety committee, leading the first-aid team and ensuring training and certifications are current; ensuring appropriate training in areas as wastewater, forklift and PPE is effective and provide daily guidance at the employee/supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach to safety.

This position requires excellent communication skills, verbal, written and listening, superior technical and problem-solving capabilities, strong planning, organizational, prioritization skills, strong MS-Office skills and commitment to developing, implementing and measuring the effectiveness of process and operational improvements. Strong understanding of workplace ergonomics is preferred.

Bachelors’ degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related health sciences plus seven years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing environment is required; familiarity with metals manufacturing is a plus.
